I love coaching youth basketball. I got the coaching bug about six years ago when I started coaching my son's third grade CYO team at St. Perpetua
For the last 3 years, I've been an active member of the St. Perpetua CYO Board, the Freshmen head basketball coach at De La Salle High School in Concord, CA and I was recently honored to coach with USA Basketball youth program during the 2016 Summer Olympics.
My student athletes often tease me about the many sayings I have - Pierce and Play, ABCs (always be cutting and screening) W.I.N. (what's important now) or D.I.G (Dignity, Integrity and Grace) to name a few.
My coaching philosophy, "Get comfortable being uncomfortable." Basketball is a correlation to life and unless you are doing things that push you, you won't grow. I practice what I preach when I auditioned to be in a commercial with Steph Curry. I was chosen for the role. It was a blast!
My inspiration for Level Up Sports Academy was my wife, Chris. She owns a nonprofit called Grateful Gatherings. I witness her transformation when she followed her passion. It was the push I needed. I strive to make a difference in kids' minds and hearts, and mix in a little basketball too.
